What you will do

The Johnson Controls Fire Protection team in the Portland-metro area serves a diverse group of valued customers across a wide selection of industries. We take the utmost pride and responsibility in performing fire, sprinkler and suppression inspections and working as partners with our customers. Our teams work together to provide industry-leading inspection, testing and service and we are looking for an experienced inspector that can demonstrate a high level of understanding and adherence to code and inspection requirements, lead a job and team of inspectors, provide excellent customer service skills, and show attention to detail.

How you will do it

  • Work with team to test and inspect fire alarm systems with existing and new customer base, on time

  • Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment.

  • Have attention to detail to maintain proper documentation, and input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via mobile device

  • Must adhere to company safety policies and procedures

  • Follow verbal and written instructions

  • Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs

  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions; such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment

  • Must be able to work alternative shifts including after-hours and/or weekends to meet customer needs

  • Must be able to work out of town monthly (at least 3 days a month with potential for more) to meet customer needs

  • Must perform all duties in a safe and professional manner & maintain a clean and safe work area

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What we look for

Required

  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times

  • NICET II with at least 3 years of experience utilizing certification

  • Able to obtain and retain any licenses that are required by National, State and Local codes.

  • Self-starter that can work with little or no supervision

  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly

  • Capable of performing physical labor

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work well with others

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Basic computer skills – Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook) along with Smartphone skills

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.

  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.

  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $32-38 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.) This position
