As a member of the Women’s and Children’s Division (WCS) nursing leadership team the Nurse Educator will be responsible for assessing, coordinating and providing the educational needs for the Division. May assist with dissemination of information around the CQI activities for the Division and assist other departments with educational activities as requested. Such activities include, but are not limited to orientation of new employees, in-service coordination, participation on general hospital committees, and monthly Quality Improvement Studies. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of Phoebe. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or obtain within 6 months of hire.
Master's Degree in Nursing or Education (Preferred)
Work Experience
2-3 years within the Women's and Children's clinical practice area (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
Required Certifications/Licensures: Registered Nurse (RN) with current Georgia license, Basic Life Support (BLS). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or obtained within 1 year of hire, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Essential Functions
Assists management team in evaluating the educational needs of staff to include annual needs assessment, didactic/clinical orientation, clinical mentoring, competency validation and continuing education.
Provides educational programs to nursing personnel to ensure that educational needs of the staff are met specific to identified needs as indicated by annual needs assessment.
Coordinate and provide an orientation program for new employees in collaboration with other educators.
Provides clinical mentoring with staff when consulted by Nurse Manager/Director.
Coordinates mechanism for annual competency validation based on hospital policy and regulatory requirements.
Develop, provide and evaluate educational programs for the nursing staff.
Provides information and consultation to administrative personnel and to staff.
Comply with established nursing standards. Interprets these to the staff, patients and public as appropriate.
Consults and assists management team with the meeting of regulatory requirements.
Assists in the development, review and revision of standards of care, policies, procedures and protocols, and competencies, based on hospital policy and regulatory standards.
Acts as a liaison for conflict resolution.
Acts as a liaison for patient education needs.
Directs the coordination of care across setting and among caregivers.
Engages in teamwork as a team player and a team builder.

Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
