Automation Business Analyst – Senior

About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Automation Business Analyst to join our innovative team supporting a DoD Agency as we advance our journey toward intelligent automations alongside traditional RPA solutions. This critical role will provide senior-level leadership, analysis, and guidance to shape automation strategy and delivery across mission-driven government projects. The Senior Automation Business Analyst will collaborate closely with solution architects, automation developers, and business stakeholders to identify, scope, and optimize automation opportunities that address real-world challenges and enable operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities :

• Lead business process analysis and discovery sessions for complex use cases, including both traditional RPA and AI-powered intelligent automations.
• Partner with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and technical teams to define, document, and optimize business processes targeted for automation.
• Oversee and refine requirements gathering, writing detailed Process Definition Documents (PDDs) and functional specifications to drive effective Solution Design Documents (SDDs).
• Guide and mentor junior analysts to improve requirements quality, best practices documentation, and delivery consistency.
• Engage in fit-gap analysis and feasibility studies, evaluating existing processes against automation capabilities.
• Serve as the point of contact for automation process mapping, solution scoping, and KPI definition.
• Maintain expertise in both RPA and intelligent automation technologies (such as UiPath, AI Center, Document Understanding), ensuring business requirements align with technical delivery.
• Support testing, change management, and user training activities throughout the automation lifecycle.
• Stay current on evolving automation and AI trends, translating advances into business-focused recommendations.
• Champion process optimization and continual improvement in automation practices within the team.

Required Qualifications :

• Secret (or above) Security Clearance.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Analysis, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 2 years in RPA or intelligent automation projects.
• Proven expertise in business process modeling, requirements elicitation, and functional documentation.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or iterative project delivery methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience working with automation technologies such as UiPath Studio, Orchestrator, and emerging platforms for AI-powered document processing.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and analytical skills, including the ability to translate technical information for business audiences.
• Experience supporting government or highly regulated sector projects preferred.

Preferred Qualifications :

• UiPath Business Analyst or Automation credentials.
• Experience with document-centric workflows, process mining, and/or intelligent document understanding solutions.
• Past experience mentoring or leading other analysts in an automation environment.
