The Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspections, & Enforcement is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Building/Structural Engineer Reviewer I/II ( Engineer Reviewer 1G ) position, grade G24/27, in the Building /Structure Division . PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TEMPORARY 1000HR POSITION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF PERMITTING, INSPECTIONS, & ENFORCEMENT About the Position: This is a junior level engineering position in the Division of Building Plan Review, Building/Structural Section. Work requires sound independent professional judgement and responsibility in plan review, as well as technical engineering personnel under the general supervision of higher-level management personnel. Work includes performing the review of construction documents, involving the application of basic architectural, ADA, structural engineering principle in all phases of plan review with enforcement of County and National Codes. About The Agency: The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) is responsible for coordinating and enforcing standards that control what goes on before, during, and after construction. Staff from nine agencies, who work cooperatively on permit processing, business licensing, plan review, inspection and enforcement comprise Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement. The Mission of the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement is to promote economic development in Prince George's County and protect the safety of County residents, businesses, and visitors through efficient permitting, inspection and licensing services to ensure compliance with established building, zoning and property standards codes. Examples of Work Reviews, plans, documents, and projects to determine if they meet required laws, regulations and ordinances for building, structural and ADA. Reads, analyzes, and interprets engineering plans, blueprints, specifications, and feasibility studies and test results to become familiar and knowledgeable about the nature, scope and details of construction projects. Identifies problems/discrepancies in the initial design and determine compliance/non-compliance with established codes, polices, standards and specifications. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Architectural, Structural, or Civil Engineering with a specialty in the structural field OR Four (4) years of professional experience in construction, electrical, mechanical, or fire prevention work Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years of experience in building plan review and/or electrical design ICC building plan review residential and certification EACH APPLICANTION MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION THAT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.
