Job Description
The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is looking to hire a full-time Water Resources Technician to join our team in the Water Resources Department.
The Water Resources Technician is responsible for GIS/GPS activities, including surveying/collecting field data, creating/designing maps, and participating in the Tribe’s GIS Working Group.
This position is also responsible for equipment maintenance, operation, and towing, including department trucks, chainsaws, airboats, swamp buggies, and ORVs. Prior experience with listed equipment is helpful but not required.
Other responsibilities include site/property inspections for compliance with wetland permitting and environmental regulations, environmental spill response, participation in a variety of community outreach programs, assisting with water quality sampling, and other duties as required.
Physical requirements include having the ability to work outside in extreme conditions and remote locations within the Everglades and being able to lift over 40 lbs.
Knowledge of wetlands, hydrology, and the Everglades ecosystem is highly preferable. Experience in ArcGIS Pro is a must. Candidates should have strong report writing skills and computer skills, with an emphasis on Excel, and have a BA or BS degree in a related science field. A valid FL Driver's license is required. Salary is negotiable depending on experience, ranging from $55,000 to $60,000 annually.
