Job Description

Position Title: Tutor (Accounting)

Reports To: Director

Functions and Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The tutor is responsible for providing individual and small group tutoring services to students attending Essex County College.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Work with students to complete assignments, prepare for tests, and improve academic skills.
  2. Develop a full working knowledge of academic skills development materials and strategies.
  3. Incorporate study skills and time management techniques into lesson plans.
  4. Host workshops on selected topics.
  5. Perform front desk activities, including scheduling, record-keeping, and online tutoring coordination, when directed.
  6. Contact assigned students within two days of receiving the assignment (For Online Tutoring Services only).
  7. Be punctual for all scheduled tutoring sessions.
  8. Prepare routine, special, and ancillary reports as required.
  9. Perform other related duties as required.

  6. Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, including but not limited to, computers, keyboards, telephones, calculators, and controls.
  7. Bend, twist, climb, push, pull, and lift.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High academic achievement, especially in subject area(s) applicant wishes to tutor.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  3. Familiar or proficient with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Hangout, etc.
  4. You must be currently enrolled or a former student of Essex County College.

Minimum Education Requirements:

High School Diploma

Additional Requirements:

  1. Successful completion of Accounting 200 - 202.
