Job Description

Overview The Translator will provide Translation services for individuals with a language barrier. Translation will consist of but not limited to Education, Legal, Medical, Environmental, and Social Services, etc. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Accurately translated situations like lectures, conversations, meetings, medical, and or legal. HIPAA compliant when interpreting or translating in a healthcare setting. Abide by the client’s policies. Abide by the American Translators Association Code of Ethics. Render a complete and accurate translation without altering, omitting, or adding anything to what is stated or written, and without explanation. Sensitive to the culture of the original languages and the target languages during the translation process. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent in years of experience. Minimum of 2 years of related experience. Certified Translation Professional. Translation Certifications. Certifications from a previous agency or Accreditation from a translation program. Must be fluent in English and Spanish. Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment. Minimum Skills Required The ability to facilitate translation with discretion and impartiality. Proficiency in written communication. A wide breadth of knowledge in a variety of topics. Cultural awareness when conducting translations within different regions. Must possess problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc. Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time. Must be a self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. For Medical Translation services: medical interpreter certificate from either the Certification Commission of Healthcare Interpreters or the National Certification for Medical Interpreters. 2 years of Legal translation experience. 2 years of medical translation experience. American Translators Association Certification. Court certified translator certificate. Reports to: Deputy Program Manager Working Conditions Professional remote environment. Must be able to be on-call. Translator will be notified within 48 hours of potential jobs. Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for extended periods of time. Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position. Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace. Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen. May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays. May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
