Title: Training & Behavior Manager Reports to: Executive Director About Us Forgotten Dogs Rescue was founded in 2011 and is a 501c3 dog rescue in Washington State. Our mission: Forgotten Dogs Rescue saves and advocates for homeless and medical needs dogs of Washington State, by placing them in safe and loving foster homes, and ultimately matching them with the perfect forever family. We save the dogs that need help the most, the dogs whose time has run out, the dogs who have lost all hope — the forgotten dogs. Summary The Training & Behavior Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing Forgotten Dogs Rescue dog training and behavior programs and team. Responsibilities Responsible for creating a high performance and customer service oriented culture which provides training and support to our fosters towards successful placements of FDR dogs in adoptive homes. Oversees Forgotten Dogs Rescue training/behavior program including evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of the training/behavior program. Ensure foster compliance with training plans to confirm that dogs are being socialized properly and are making progress in their rehabilitation and are prepared for adoption in a timely manner. Develops and maintains training processes including documentation based on best practices. Work with Foster Supervisor to develop and provide foster education. Work with Foster Supervisor to ensure fosters are up to date on current training/behavior protocols. Develops, implements and oversees dog/cat/kid testing program. Works in collaboration with the adoption application team to identify dog(s) that are a good fit for the potential adopter as needed. Evaluates trainers being used by adopters and provides a list of approved trainers to use in the adoption process. Maintains the trainer database. Provide reports as needed. Provides on-call support as assigned. Provides monthly board dog/training reports including providing insight into dog fluctuations. Identify and work with external trainers to provide support to fosters as needed. Maintain a positive working relationship with trainers. Keep up to date on training and handling best practices. Develops, implements and oversees dog intake evaluation protocol, including recruiting and training a team of individuals who can evaluate potential intakes. Evaluates dogs for potential intakes as needed, providing information to board for consideration of placement. Requirements Complete tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner with appropriate attention to detail and in alignment with agreed upon due dates. Ability to work independently and with others, able to solve problems and thrive in a fast-paced environment where change is constant and prompt communication is crucial. Adheres to all organizational policy and procedures. Represents the rescue in a professional and organized manner. Has a commitment to learn and grow. Excellent people skills and high emotional intelligence as well as effective verbal and written communication. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, multi-task work environment. Proficiency in various digital tools such as Office, Discord, Petstablished, Pet Finder and Adopt-A-Pet.
