Primary Services is actively recruiting for a Trading Systems Business Analyst to support a global energy client’s power trading operations. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technology delivery—working closely with traders, schedulers, and IT teams to improve systems and drive performance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between US power trading business units and Trading IT to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Gather, document, and validate business and functional requirements for trading platforms and scheduling tools.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and application vendors to design and deliver trading system solutions.
  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure software compliance with business requirements and IT controls.
  • Contribute to product roadmaps and resource planning for project delivery teams.
  • Support day-to-day system operations, troubleshooting issues and addressing user queries.
  • Manage a backlog of change requests and assist in prioritization and execution.
  • Coordinate with other Trading IT stakeholders and global teams on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Provide input on project planning, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Promote adoption of delivered solutions and ensure high-quality service delivery to end users.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a commodity trading or utility environment, with a focus on US power trading and scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of ISO/RTO market operations; ERCOT experience highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with bid-to-bill systems such as Softsmiths, PowerOptix, or Adapt2.
  • Experience onboarding and integrating power asset types (CCGTs, PV, BESS).
  • Solid grasp of trading system workflows, market requirements, and real-time operations.
  • Background in IT or software delivery with experience in Agile or DevOps methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and communicate effectively across business and technical teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field required.
  • Proficiency in English required; French is a plus.
