Technical Board Operator & Company Manager

Roles & Responsibilities Summary

Our off-Broadway live stage production is a theatrical storytelling magic show performed in an intimate 178-seat theatre. The production currently runs 10 shows per week, with an increase to 12 shows during holiday and weekend periods. We are looking to add a Technical Manager who can share simple company management responsibilities. The show schedule has been extended thru February 2026.

Technical Manager Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain QLab, Avolites Quartz, Behringer Wing Rack, Dante, Atmospherics, and audio/visual production equipment. Other than Qlab, experience with similar equipment will be considered.
  • Safeguard the technical integrity and production values of every performance.
  • Call cues as required for stage movements and technical operations.
  • Oversee maintenance of production-critical equipment, consumables inventory, and overall technical readiness.
  • Produce accurate, and complete show production reports, ensuring any corrective actions are identified and implemented or delegated to someone who can take corrective and preventative actions.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues before or during performances efficiently.
  • Have a working knowledge of all essential Technical and Production elements of the show.
  • Support smooth rehearsal and performance processes.
  • Operate the cueing system with accuracy at all times.
  • Enforce safety procedures and maintain a safe workplace.
  • Ensure all technical start up and shutdown procedures are completed correctly for each performance and rehearsal.

Company Stage Management Responsibilities

  • Manage designated production administration and show scheduling.
  • Act as the primary liaison with 3rd party vendors.
  • Coordinate rehearsals, understudy training sessions, and technical schedules with the resident director.
  • Ensure management and coordination of routine equipment maintenance or repairs as needed..
  • Implement and uphold company and venue policies and procedures.
  • Always prioritize company members’ well-being and safety.
  • Ensure effective communication to support a smooth workflow.
  • Assist with stage operations when required, including safe handling of curtains, scenic elements and props.
  • Have an understanding of all the essential Technical and production elements of the show.
  • Oversee practical company needs, including laundry / dry cleaning arrangements and food provisions if and when required.
