We are looking for a skilled Tax Manager to oversee compliance, planning, and preparation of complex tax filings for trusts and estates. Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, this role is ideal for a meticulous individual with strong leadership and technical expertise in fiduciary accounting and tax law. The successful candidate will manage client relationships, mentor staff, and contribute to business development efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and ensure the accurate preparation and filing of federal and state tax returns for trusts and estates, including Forms 1041, 706, and K-1s.

• Conduct detailed research on complex tax issues and provide solutions based on findings.

• Communicate effectively with tax authorities to address inquiries and resolve issues.

• Manage a significant volume of fiduciary and agency accounts while maintaining operational efficiency.

• Review and provide feedback on tax work prepared by entry-level staff to ensure quality and accuracy.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, advisors, and trust administrators.

• Offer strategic advice on trust and estate planning, wealth transfer, and tax-saving opportunities.

• Mentor, train, and evaluate tax staff to foster growth and team development.

• Participate actively in business development activities, including client presentations and industry conferences.

• Perform and review complex trust and estate accountings, ensuring compliance with legal and financial standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration; a master’s degree in taxation or accounting is preferred.
• Possession of a CPA license, JD, or Enrolled Agent certification is highly desirable.
• At least 5 years of recent experience in public accounting or trust tax work.
• Expertise in fiduciary accounting and thorough knowledge of fiduciary tax law and concepts.
• Proven ability to manage engagements and lead teams effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients and staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant tax software.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent tax research and apply findings effectively.
