Job Description

International School of Portland is hiring for 2025 Summer Camp!

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Seasonal full time Japanese I mmersion- Teacher Assistants to join our team. Our teachers and teacher assistants come from around the world and are passionate about making language learning fun through hands-on activities, songs, games, outdoor fun, and cultural connections. DATES 2025:

Specialists may work in one, two, or all three sessions.

  • Session 1 - June 23rd - July 4th* (No Camp July 4)
  • Session 2 - July 7th - July 18th
  • Session 3 - July 21 - August 1st

(All Specialists must participate in training in May and/or June. When feasible, all trainings will be held virtually)

HOURS: 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday

PAY RATE: per 2-week session, depending on experience

Teacher Assistant (Returning or Assistant II)  $21.00

Teacher Assistant (New or Assistant I)   $20.00

CAMP TUITION DISCOUNT: Camp staff receive a discount off of Summer Camp enrollment fees for eligible children

General Summary

A full-time seasonal position reporting to the Summer Camp Director, the Teacher's Assistant works as a member of a classroom team consisting of the language immersion teacher, teacher's aide, and floating aide. The Teacher's Assistant is an integral part of the campers' day and the teacher's success. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting Lead teachers in supervising campers in the classroom, on the playground, on field trips, and with specialist teachers; communicating with families and camp director; assisting with special events; and supporting the Lead teacher by enforcing class rules, helping distribute materials, and assisting with teaching, when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Eligible to work in the USA
  • Demonstrate fluency in Japanese
  • At least 3 months experience working with children, preferably in a camp or school setting
  • Support the mission and vision of The International School of Portland (
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, creativity, responsibility, and a passion for teaching young language learners
