Are you a mid-level developer looking to take the next step in your career? NS2 Mission is seeking a Python Developer to join our team in Herndon/Chantilly, VA , supporting the design and development of data processing applications. In this role, you will contribute across the software development lifecycle, from translating requirements into user stories to building, testing, and deploying cloud-native solutions. You will work closely with technical leads and engineers, take ownership of key components, and ensure high-quality, scalable, and efficient code.

The ideal candidate is proficient in Python, experienced with cloud deployments, and skilled in developing solutions that integrate with open-source tools, APIs, and containerized environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and Technical Leads to translate requirements into user stories and integrate new functionality into existing applications.
• Design, build, and test software components with automated testing frameworks to support CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Develop and maintain web APIs to interface with cloud applications and databases.
• Contribute as part of an Agile team, delivering iterative software solutions.
• Integrate Python code into Docker containers to support distributed, cloud-native architectures.
• Design software components independently based on requirements while guiding technical design and architecture best practices.
• Work directly with customer stakeholders to align requirements and technical implementations.

Required Skills & Experience (3–5 years minimum)

• Strong proficiency with Python data processing libraries (PySpark, Pandas, NumPy).
• Hands-on experience developing APIs with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Experience writing unit tests with PyTest and leveraging mocking frameworks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing best practices.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with Python ORM tools such as SQLAlchemy.
• Deployment of containerized Python applications using Docker on cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Knowledge of NLP frameworks and toolkits for production environments.
• Experience deploying AI/ML models into production using Python frameworks.
