Job Title: Purchasing Manager
Location: Kansas City, MO
Job Summary:
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods and services to support business operations. This role involves developing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with company goals.
Manage vendor selection, contract negotiations, and performance evaluations.
Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation.
Collaborate with internal departments to forecast demand and plan procurement activities.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of purchase orders and invoices.
Maintain and optimize inventory levels to support production and operational needs.
Lead and mentor purchasing team members to achieve departmental objectives.
Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
5+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
Excellent communication and vendor management abilities.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in global sourcing and contract law.
Certification such as CPSM, CPIM, or PMP.
Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
