ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Point of contact for customer inquiries regarding product regulatory compliance matters. (i.e., Inventory verifications, compliance declarations, regulatory questionnaires, IMDS requests, etc.)
- Point of internal contact for R&D, Purchasing, and Sales teams regarding product and raw material compliance matters; provide regulatory support for experimental R&D projects.
- Assist with SDS authoring and GHS/DOT classification (e.g. new SDS’s, updating existing SDS’s due to regulatory changes, etc.); interpreting and applying regulatory requirements globally (U.S., Canada, EU, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, etc.).
- Communicate REACH compliance to customers for EU, UK, KR, TR, etc.
- Ensure compliance with Globally Harmonized System (GHS) requirements including monitoring of global adoption; and managing SDS and label change communications.
- Research industry trends and recommends improvements to existing processes, testing, and technical literature for marketing .
- Generate and maintain required compliance information for Struktol manufactured materials.
- Request and maintain environmental substance compliance information for purchased items.
- Contribute to company ESG efforts and sustainability initiatives, data gathering and monitoring.
- Develop, implement, and maintain regulatory strategies and procedures to meet global compliance requirements for the company in current and target markets.
- Analyzes regulatory requirements and audits projects, plans, and processes to monitor compliance with current or upcoming regulations.
- Assist with HTS determinations for imports and Schedule B codes for Struktol products.
- All other duties as assigned.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 2-4 years of experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs or another related field.
- Prior work in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws and regulations governing product safety such as TSCA, RCRA, FDA, OSHA Hazard Communications, as well as product risk assessments and product stewardship is essential.
- Experience with the following regulations: Dangerous Goods (DOT/IMDG/IATA), EU/UK/KR/TR REACH; GHS; Food Contact; RoHS; and Conflict Minerals.
- Familiarity with national chemical inventory laws for U.S., EU, UK, Canada, Japan, Korea, China.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Require Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Basic familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SAP EHS/PC Module.
- Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize computer programs and understand systems.
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Must be capable of interacting with diverse groups at all technical levels such as customer service, plant personnel, R&D, customers, technical consultants, contractors, etc.
