Compensation: $25-35/hour

Job Summary

We’re seeking a skilled Podcast Engineer to oversee the technical production of our podcast episodes. You’ll be responsible for recording, editing, mixing, and mastering audio to ensure professional-quality sound. This role requires deep expertise in audio software, sound design, and storytelling through sound.

Key Responsibilities

• Recording & Setup
• Set up and operate sound equipment for in-studio or remote podcast recordings
• Advise on microphone placement, acoustics, and studio configuration
• Editing & Post-Production
• Clean up raw audio by removing background noise, filler words, and technical glitches
• Edit for narrative flow in collaboration with producers or hosts
• Mixing & Mastering
• Balance dialogue, music, and sound effects for a cohesive sound
• Apply EQ, compression, and other effects to enhance audio quality
• Ensure consistency across episodes and platforms
• Technical Support
• Troubleshoot equipment and software issues
• Maintain an organized digital audio library
• Stay current with audio engineering tools and trends

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Logic Pro, Reaper)
• Strong understanding of acoustics, signal flow, and audio processing
• Experience with podcast formats and storytelling
• Attention to detail and a good ear for sound
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Experience

• 2+ years in audio engineering or podcast production
• Familiarity with remote recording tools (e.g., Riverside.fm, Zencastr)
• Knowledge of loudness standards and audio publishing platforms
