The Audio Visual Technician assists with the setup and operation of audiovisual equipment for classes, conferences, and special events at the Washington College of Law. The Technician also provides support to students, faculty and staff by answering the phone, responding to emails, and creating support tickets. This is a temporary position ending tentatively on 11/30/2025. Essential functions include assisting with classroom and event support, recording of classes and events, assisting faculty with in-classroom AV needs, troubleshooting AV equipment and replacing defective or malfunctioning parts, and video production projects including interviews and instructional videos. Competencies required include serving customers, displaying creativity, prioritizing and organizing, championing customer needs, building and supporting teams, building a customer focused organization, acting strategically, and acquiring and analyzing information. The position is part-time (20 hours per week), non-exempt, and temporary. Required education and experience include a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent customer service, organization, communication, and problem solving skills, knowledge of video recording techniques and basic understanding of signal flow for both audio and video, familiarity with Final Cut Pro X, working knowledge of Mac and PC computers, strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task, and ability to work independently under minimal supervision. Preferred education and experience include a bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience. Hiring offers are contingent on successful completion of a background check. Employees must deliver services from DC, Maryland, or Virginia or perform work on-site at the university.
