Overview

We are seeking a results-driven and hands-on colleague to join our mechanical services team as an NDT Service Technician. This full-time position reports to the NDT Manager.

The NDT Service Technician is responsible for performing nondestructive testing on paper machine dryers and other vessels at customer sites. The NDT Service Technician may also be required to assist with mechanical repairs and installations of Kadant Johnson equipment.

Responsibilities

\n
• Perform nondestructive testing including ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, and visual inspections of various vessels and equipment.
\n
• Document and report indications found upon discovery, with corresponding measurements and photodocumentation.
\n
• Collaborate with the Sales, Systems, Engineering, and Product fulfillment group to support customer needs.
\n
• Manage and maintain assigned company service tools and/or service vehicle, safety equipment, and associated consumables.
\n
• Work independently and in team environments on customer sites and in Kadant Johnson facilities as directed.
\n
• Help plan and execute projects, provide service reports, and document travel and consumable expenses.
\n

Qualifications

\n
• Experience with nondestructive testing disciplines including ultrasonic testing, magnetic testing, and visual testing
\n
• Must possess mechanical aptitude and skills
\n
• Familiar with metric and English units, fastener sizes, and able to convert units
\n
• Proficient with hand tools and power tools
\n
• Able to interpret drawings as well as measure and make legible sketches of customers' equipment for reporting and conveying information
\n
• Must be willing and able to enter confined spaces for repairs and inspections
\n
• Willing and able to drive or fly, and work on short notice including weekdays, weekends, and holidays to satisfy customer needs
\n
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office 365
\n
• Maintain a Valid driver's license
\n

The successful candidate will have a high energy level and an ability to engage professionally with distinct personality types. The NDT Service Technician must also establish credibility and be decisive, support Kadant Johnson's priorities, and be results and people oriented. Regular visits to industrial sites will be required for service work, field trials, and product troubleshooting. Site visits to customer facilities may be subject to confined space entry, heavy industrial environments, mechanical service activities, and other functions that require personal protective equipment.
