About the Maintenance Technician:

This role supports our growing portfolio of residential and commercial properties across the South Coast, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained environments for the individuals and programs we serve.

The Maintenance Technician is a hands-on role that combines expert-level trade knowledge with customer interaction and project coordination. You will be a key point of contact for program staff and vendors, so strong communication skills and a helpful, respectful attitude are essential.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm
Location: New Bedford, MA
Compensation: $28-30/hour

We are looking for a team member who has a: 
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Trade School or Technical Certifications strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in general maintenance and construction (residential and/or commercial).
  • Strong construction knowledge—carpentry, renovations, and finish work are essential.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • High level of professionalism and customer service—must be able to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable personal vehicle required.
  • Familiarity with tablets and basic work order/maintenance tracking systems.
  • Trade certifications such as Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT) are a plus.
  • Experience managing or coordinating vendors or small teams preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Extensive travel in the New Bedford area, required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, pivot, crawl, and climb stairs or ladders as needed.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for tool use, repairs, and equipment handling.
  • Ability to see and inspect details up close and at a distance.
  • Ability to hear and communicate clearly in a busy work environment.
  • Comfort working in varying conditions, including heat, cold, snow, rain, and wind.
  • Ability to safely wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
In this Maintenance Technician role, you'll get to:
  • Perform a wide range of general maintenance tasks, including:
    • Carpentry (framing, drywall, finish work, cabinetry)
    • Plumbing and basic electrical
    • Appliance installation and repair
    • Painting, flooring, and HVAC support
  • Lead or assist with construction-related projects, including small renovations, repairs, and property improvements.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and ensure timely repairs of building systems and infrastructure.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely, courteous, and respectful manner, prioritizing both safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to extend the life of property assets.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal staff, residents, and external vendors or contractors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and keep up-to-date records of inspections, repairs, and completed work.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, health and safety regulations, and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to support facility needs.
  • Assist with emergency maintenance requests as needed.
  • Perform other maintenance or repair tasks as assigned.
