POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician
DEPARTMENT: Facilities
REPORTS TO: Facilities Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Part-Time, Non-Exempt
HOURS PER WEEK: 24
POSITION SUMMARY
Works collaboratively with customers, co-workers, and other departments to ensure a comfortable and safe environment. Identifies, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains facilities and any future additions. Assists with maintenance of grounds all seasons. Displays ethical behavior and promotes a work environment of respect and dignity of the human person that is consistent with the mission of the Archdiocese of Omaha.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Inspect the facilities regularly, looking for repair or maintenance issues to address.
• Diagnose and perform repairs to plumbing, electrical, mechanical and other building and construction systems, under the supervision of the Facilities Coordinator.
• Light renovation, painting and remodeling work.
• Light landscaping and grounds repair and maintenance duties.
• Create and complete work orders addressing repairs and upgrades to all properties.
• Maintain professional appearance and reliable attendance.
• Scheduled on-call emergency phone monitoring and when necessary, emergency response.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Strong mechanical aptitude and high attention to detail.
• Experience and proficiency in electrical, plumbing, remodeling and general construction repair work (or some experience and a willingness to learn).
• Basic knowledge of grounds and facility maintenance.
• Effective organizational and communication skills and the ability to manage day-to-day work assignments (setting and completing goals daily).
• A strong work ethic, honesty and the ability to work independently and with a team.
• Adaptable and flexible in responding to daily work requirements.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Ability to follow policy and safety guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal skills, sensitivity and professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to be pleasant with others on the job and display a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Background in and/or knowledge of the Catholic Church with a demonstrated commitment to the mission and teachings of the Church.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
• Prior experience in one or more of the following: minor construction, general building maintenance, carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing required.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• Regular travel between archdiocesan campus locations.
