We are seeking experienced Journeyman Electricians to support the installation of smart water heater controller systems on residential electric water heaters. This role involves safe electrical wiring, mounting smart devices, installing sensors, and ensuring successful system operation.

 

Candidates must be licensed in Hawaii and ready to travel locally using their own vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed).

 

Responsibilities

• Perform safe electrical disconnect/reconnect on 240V electric water heaters
• Install smart controller units using existing access plates
• Connect heating element wires to terminal blocks inside the controller
• Install temperature sensors on T&P valve and cold-water inlet
• Install leak detection sensors (if required)
• Route, secure, and manage wiring
• Restore power, verify system functionality, and check LED indicators
• Assist customers with basic mobile app device pairing
• Follow installation guidelines and electrical codes

 

Required Skills & Experience

• Valid Journeyman Electrician License
• Strong experience with residential electrical systems
• Ability to work safely with high-voltage circuits (240V)
• Experience in wiring, troubleshooting, and device installations
• Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams and installation manuals
• Good communication and customer interaction skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with water heaters, HVAC controls, or smart home devices
• Ability to work independently and document completed work
• Familiarity with basic Wi-Fi setup and mobile app pairing

 

Tools Needed

• Phillips and Flathead screwdrivers
• Needle-nose pliers
• Voltage tester (preferred)
