Junior Public Works Engineer

Job Description

LAE is a provider of Professional Municipal Public Works Engineering Management services to cities and other public agencies. The firm specializes in Project/Construction/Program Management, virtual / in-person Staff Augmentation and Inspection Services to Cities.

Who we are looking for:

A Junior Public Engineer to work on Public Works projects (e.g. roadway resurfacing/rehabilitation/reconstruction, water, sewer, storm drain, parking lots and traffic signal). The selected person will be working projects for our City clients in various counties from our office and/or virtually. The ideal candidates will have some technical experience working on public works Capital Improvements Program (CIP) projects. The position is well suited for construction engineering / technology or civil engineering graduate with one year of technical experience who desire working on part-time or full-time basis (flexible work days/hours).

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Work with our engineers, project managers, public works inspectors, outside civil/traffic design and geo-technical engineers
• Work on Project Engineering tasks of the public works roadways, storm drain facilities, water, sewer lines and utilities projects
• Prepare project schedules and track progress of various projects
• Assisting engineers/managers to address and manage various engineering issues
• Assist in preparing or responding to various RFPs
• Attend and participate in various meetings
• Perform other project engineering functions as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering/Technology, Civil Engineering or sufficient Industry experience
• Some public/private sector construction, technical or engineering experience
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Problem solving and analytical skills
• The position requires occasional driving
