Position Summary
On-site position. The Air Export/Import Supervisor (or Manager) is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of AGESBEC’s air freight team, covering both exports and imports. This position ensures all shipments are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with customer requirements, company policies, and international regulations. The role involves supervising a team of coordinators, maintaining communication with customers, carriers, and external stakeholders, resolving operational issues, and consistently delivering exceptional customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Supervise and coordinate the activities of the air export/import coordinators to ensure smooth, compliant, and efficient operations.
· Monitor and manage the flow of shipments (export and import) to meet customer requirements and company standards.
· Communicate effectively with customers, carriers, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely movement and clearance of cargo.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to shipments, including delays, damages, documentation discrepancies, and customs clearance challenges.
· Ensure all shipment documentation is accurate and complete, including air waybills, commercial invoices, packing lists, customs entries, and other relevant documents.
· Maintain compliance with international trade regulations, including customs laws, import/export controls, and hazardous materials regulations.
· Provide high-quality customer service, ensuring expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
· Lead, train, and mentor team members, including hiring and performance management.
· Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service quality.
Educational Background / Work Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, International Business, or a related field ().
· Equivalent industry experience in air freight, import/export, or logistics operations will be considered.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of air freight export and import operations, documentation, and international regulations.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
· Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and/or ERP systems ().
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Direct supervision of the air export/import coordinators.
· Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating team performance.
Qualifications
· Master’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, or International Business.
· Professional certifications such as Certified Logistics Professional (CLP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
· Experience in process improvement or project management initiatives.
· Knowledge of industry-specific platforms such as CargoWise or Magaya.
Skills
· Fluent in English and Portuguese (oral and written).
For this position, the expected base pay is: $64,000 - $86,000/ Annual + benefits. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
