The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under DoD Instruction 1322.29. The NG-MIP offers transitioning service members valuable civilian work experience through an internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The program is open to all ranks and experience levels. SkillBridge participants are not compensated by Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military pay and benefits as active-duty members. Responsibilities Responsibilities for this internship position include: Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (DoD SkillBridge) using the DoDI guidance. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on-the-job training supporting a 40-hour work week. Goals, objectives and outcomes include providing transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the final portion of their military commitment, with potential for a full-time opportunity at the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC. SkillBridge Eligibility Has served at least 180 days on active duty Is within 12 months of separation or retirement Will receive an honorable discharge Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months Received Unit Commander written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge prior to start Essential Functions This position is for a SkillBridge role in Colorado Springs, CO (100% on site). The successful candidate will be expected to: Provide mission operations support to Satellite programs including flight control Support system maintenance activities such as procedure updates, architecture upkeep, and formal program milestones Work with systems engineers to conduct anomaly review board investigations as necessary Conduct testing using simulators and resolve discrepancies Develop and test command procedures, telemetry pages, and other products derived from vendor provided documentation Support operations readiness activities including configuration control board and other customer meetings Support operations, including shift work which will include 12-hour and night shifts Monitor vehicle state of health across all subsystems and perform telemetry trending Track space vehicle configuration, including hardware, software, and configurable item parameters Make modifications to existing operations procedures to incorporate lessons learned from in-flight performance and develop new procedures as required Provide status reporting to both functional and program reporting branches Maintain standards within the Integrated/Developmental Operations functional group processes Support internal and external customer meetings with proficient verbal and written communications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) May require travel approximately 10% of the time for customer support or backup mission operations *This position will require shift work including swing or night shifts and/or 12-hour shifts Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (equivalent experience considered) 2 years of relevant experience U.S. citizen Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI required at time of application SkillBridge eligible Ability to work in a diverse team to achieve mission success Strong verbal and written communications skills, including persuasive presentations to external customers Willingness to support a 24/7 environment with day/night 12-hour shifts Preferred Qualifications Prior experience conducting on-orbit mission operations and resolving satellite and ground system anomalies Experience writing technical documents for external customers Leadership experience within a diverse team of engineers/operators Ability to lead and manage a diverse group to achieve mission success Experience with government systems and processes Experience with at least one spacecraft subsystem (ADCS, CDH, COMM, EPDS, Thermal, FSW) Experience in ground system update/maintenance Experience operating Tactical Space Systems bus product lines Experience using Tactical Space Systems ground software products Salary Range: $73,000.00 - $100,000.00 The salary range is a guideline; final offer depends on the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply where eligible.
