Bemidji School District and the Boys & Girls Club of the Bemidji Area are seeking a Family Engagement /Volunteer Facilitator for their 21 ST Century Community Learning Centers multi-year grant program. This position is 10 hours per week for 43 weeks with a $30.00 hourly rate of pay. Applicants are preferred to possess a bachelor's degree and experience working in family engagement, particularly working with families with diverse backgrounds.


Responsibilities:
The Family Engagement Specialist / Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for family and student outreach, communication with families of enrolled and potential students, and the development of special community events. The Family Engagement Specialist / Volunteer Coordinator will also be responsible for leading the planning and implementation of monthly Family Literacy nights throughout the community as well as the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers. The Family Engagement Specialist / Volunteer Coordinator will include working closely with the three Site Coordinators to collect data about volunteer opportunities, needs, performance at each site, and will maintain accurate records of volunteer time and effort.


Program Overview:
The 21 st Century Community Learning Center program operates Monday through Friday at three sites on school days during both the school year and summer for students in grades Kindergarten through 12. The focus of the program is literacy, academic enrichment, and family educational engagement. Activities will vary slightly by grade level, but all three centers will have academic enrichment and tutoring, social-emotional learning activities, arts and language enrichment activities, and nutrition education and physical movement activities. In addition, a major component of the program will be monthly family engagement events with a focus on literacy.
