Tomarco is a leading provider of seismic engineering consulting services and the related products and hardware used for nonstructural seismic bracing and the support of Mechanical, Electrical, and Piping systems. Our focus is geared toward building utility systems within the commercial and industrial construction markets. Our primary focus includes but is not limited to HVAC, mechanical, piping, distributed electrical systems, plumbing, process piping & fire protection contractors.

Headquartered in Southern California, ISAT also has offices in Northern California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Georgia, North Carolina, Chicago, Atlanta, New Zealand, New York, Texas, and Puerto Rico. Additional expansion is expected.

This position is within the ISAT Seismic Bracing Division which has been established to develop, execute, and process the manufacturing bill of materials process for the Tomarco Company. This Corporate position is responsible for all bill of material processes and procedures, executing BOM’s for all areas except CEAS, new item number creation and monthly labor rates adjustment and reporting for La Mirada each month.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As we continue to advance in the dynamic field of construction, we are excited about the prospect of you contributing your skills and expertise to our team. Your role as a Fabrication Design Engineer will play a crucial role in a range of tasks to support the fabrication and welding processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (other duties may be assigned as required):

• Support all aspects of the fabrication business for Tomarco from quotation through production and delivery.
• Completes take offs and develop quotes for all Fabrication Orders.
• Creates, processes, and reconciles all manufacturing bills of material for the fabrication business for all orders manufactured in La Mirada.
• Processes BOM’s for fabrication, cycle time for BOM’s should never exceed 2 business days after order completion.
• Sends out daily fabrication forecast.
• Orders materials in support of the fabrication business.
• Obtains quotes from suppliers for fabrication business.
• Prepares paperwork and supporting documents as required.
• Prints paperwork, labels and other documents as needed to support the fabrication business.
• Processes all fabrication orders as needed with support from manufacturing coordinator.
• Oversees the bill of material creation, executing and processing each month.
• Prepares monthly bills of materials reports to management.
• Ensures timely cost accounting as required on all inventory aspects.
• Provides managers and departments with bill of materials information required to operate their areas of responsibility.
• Develops quality control procedures for the fabrication business and ensures all orders are QC’d before shipment.
• Acts as key point of contact for all fabrication business related topics for all Tomarco sites.
• Will oversee provisions for training and training documentation for fabrication and related transactions/procedures.
• Responsible for the planning, installation, maintenance and servicing of the devices, machinery, and equipment in the department pursuant to the legal regulations in force.
• Responsible for developing, communicating, and training of operational and working instructions.
• Responsible for reporting any suspicious activity.

• Review drawings and specifications supplied with other customer requirements and determine if the request for quote is feasible and fits within our scope.
• Quote Preparation. Prepare project quotes, manage bid schedules, and occasional detailing of seismic bracing of MEP systems.
• Make proper cost estimations, taking into consideration such factors as materials, speeds, type of cutting, feeds and control system limitations.
• Work closely with vendors, quality personnel, design engineers, and management to develop successful commercial proposals.
• Experience with sourcing materials and finishes
• Assist Detailers, Technical Support Specialists, and Technical Support Engineers. Includes (but is not limited to) drawing clean-up, copies, and scans.
• Submittals. Capable of building basic submittals
• Assemble Seismic/Vibration Isolation Kits. Develop an understanding of kit hardware and details and assemble small orders of seismic kits.
• Assist in Estimating/Business Development. Assist the Technical Support staff in the ongoing development & improvement of technical support procedures and systems.
• Keep a clean and organized work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, and SolidWorks
• Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
• Knowledge of industrial equipment and tooling
• Familiarity with root cause analysis and process engineering
• Previous experience in fabrication, or welding
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
