Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse (RN) at Johnston-Willis Hospital’s Level III Trauma Center in our Emergency Department, you will provide direct, fast, skilled care to patients experiencing life’s worst moments. Our newly renovated and state of the art ER has 24 beds with a 6 bed rapid treatment area and sees an average of 110 patients per day. As a member of our Emergency Team you will have the distinction at working at the first non-academic hospital to receive the Comprehensive Stroke Certification.

• You will administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
• As a member of this team you will monitor, record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
• Our nurses serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• As a nurse on our team you will be responsible for coordinating patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

What qualifications you will need:

• One year experience in Emergency services is preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Licensed a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or has a Compact license.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
