This is a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of vehicle access products where traditional solutions like key fobs are replaced by mobile devices and wearables. In this role, you get to work on an entire software stack and even in close collaboration with our hardware and security teams. Vehicle access can seem simple but is far from it. There is a need to collaborate with the majority of vehicle software teams, and it also has a strong relation to our cloud and mobile solutions. Its highly visible towards the customer and never a boring day.

1. Design and build highly complex systems spanning multiple domains that bring new access features, improved functionality, and better performance to how users interact with our vehicles.
2. Shape the hardware and software systems architecture for upcoming generations of vehicles.
3. Take ideas through stages of concept, design, execution, deployment, and hardening in a production environment.
4. Work closely with other development and cross-functional team members in software such as Charging, Body Controls, Infotainment, VUX teams, and EE/Hardware teams not only in vehicle access but also other cross-functional initiatives.

1. B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
2. Strong collaboration and systems mindset.
3. Strong C/C++ programming skills.
4. Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and experience building concurrent systems.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic development environment.
6. Product-focused mindset to passionately take ideas from R&D to large scale production.

Preferred Skills:

1. Experience in automotive systems and applications
2. Experience with wireless networks including BLE, UWB, 802.15.4, and NFC
3. Scripting languages (for example Python)
4. Working experience building SIL/HIL and other automation systems.
5. Experience with CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $116,300 - $183,600 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
