Job Description

Reporting to the Operations Manager/Transportation Manager, the Driver I drives, loads, and unloads Class C (bobtail) vehicles during O&I moves and related services. Lifts, carries, and/or pushes furniture, equipment, and cartons on wheels or in hand to and from trucks, offices, and warehouses as requested by the customer. Responsible for loading and unloading trucks from the loading dock, using ramps or lift-gates. May assist in setting and offsetting goods on equipment. Ensures a quality move for the customer by communicating effectively with supervisors, end users, customers, and crew members.

This position reports and escalates any job-related issues to the Lead Foreman, Supervisor, or Project Manager. It typically receives daily site work assignments from various supervisors but has a dotted line to the Dispatcher, Operations Supervisor, and directly reports to the Operations Manager/Transportation Manager.

The Driver I must exercise extreme care to avoid damaging goods or facilities during moves, adhering strictly to all company processes and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Checks for start time with dispatch daily for the next day's schedule.
2. Performs pre-trip checks and safely operates vehicles up to Class C bobtails.
3. Moves furniture, equipment, and boxes by setting, offsetting, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and moving as required.
4. Loads and unloads trucks properly from loading docks using ramps or lift-gates to protect goods.
5. Completes paperwork accurately and submits to dispatch daily.
6. Follows site rules regarding work areas and adheres to meal and rest periods.
7. Maintains confidentiality regarding products or services at move sites.

Safety:

1. Performs work with quality, efficiency, and safety at all times.
2. Adheres to safety rules, including wearing proper safety gear and operating forklifts safely.
3. Ensures passengers wear seatbelts.
4. Reports unsafe requests or conditions to management.
5. Immediately reports accidents via Driveroo VIR Software and contacts dispatch.
6. Never backs up trucks without a spotter to assist in blind areas.

Maintenance:

1. Assists with proactive maintenance of all equipment to ensure efficiency and safety.

Customer Relations:

1. Maintains excellent relationships with customers, transportation, and warehouse teams.
2. Is punctual and communicates emergencies promptly.
3. Works cooperatively and maintains professionalism with all customers.

Other Duties:

1. Arrives in complete uniform daily at the dispatch office or on-site.
2. Follows daily work assignments and signs timesheets accurately.
3. Promotes company Mission and Vision.
4. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. Requirements include:

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• 2-3 years in office moving or warehouse environment preferred.
• 1-2 years driver experience preferred.
• Valid California Class C drivers license required.
• Minimum age 21 for insurance purposes.
• Valid driving record meeting insurance requirements.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Leadership or guidance experience preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Requires walking, handling, lifting up to 75 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds, reaching, standing, stooping, and working at heights. The work environment includes office, warehouse, and outdoor conditions, with exposure to noise and weather variations. Personal protective equipment is required as needed.
