We are seeking a Director to join our Government Affairs department to maintain and oversee a diverse multi-client portfolio. Role Summary The right candidate is a motivated self-starter who will support a growing and dynamic team. The candidate should have between 3-5 years of experience in government relations, preferably recent Capitol Hill (Republican office), administration, agency, or government affairs/public affairs experience. This role will support Prism Group’s government and public affairs team, reporting to the firm’s Partners. This person will support and manage a robust portfolio of clients in policy development, strategy, advocacy, research and analysis, and maintaining relationships with Capitol Hill, the administration, and agencies on behalf of Prism Group clients. This candidate should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision, highly organized, and attentive to detail. To successfully execute projects for our clients, the candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities at once, establish timelines for client work products, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position is based in Washington, DC. Primary Responsibilities Manage government affairs client workflow for multiple clients and various coalitions as needed including attending weekly client meetings and providing policy updates/reporting to C-Suite leaders and direct contract managers. Track, monitor, and report on legislative and regulatory updates relevant to client priorities. Devise, implement, and execute creative advocacy and education strategies for clients seeking to influence federal policy goals. Identify and respond to regulatory changes and opportunities for relevant clients. Oversee the completion of reports to clients that include hearing coverage, roundtable readouts, and policy memos. Coordinate fly-ins and Congressional/administration meetings. Prepare policy talking points for C-Suite leadership for meetings, panels, interviews, etc. Develop collateral including advocacy toolkits, and one-pagers, and work with graphics and communications teams. Engage in event planning efforts for clients and the firm (both virtual and in-person) including webinars, receptions, panels, conferences, and keynote speakers. Oversee and manage internal teams. Qualifications and Skills Exceptional writing abilities. Writing samples will be expected. 3-5+ years of relevant experience on Capitol Hill (Republican staff), administration, trade association, and/or public affairs firm. Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to quickly process information and analyze tasks. Ability to project manage and handle various issues and projects simultaneously. Research (qualitative and quantitative). Excellent time management skills and ability to balance deliverables in a multi-client environment. High attention to detail and can exercise critical thinking in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to travel and work outside of the office and/or during evenings or weekends. Lead in-person meetings on Capitol Hill, agencies, trade associations, think tanks, and other stakeholders. Location This is a full-time position based at our office in downtown Washington DC . Currently, Prism Group employees work at home on Mondays with in-office work Tuesday-Friday, unless otherwise warranted by client meetings or travel. Normal business hours are usual, but this person must be able to work evenings or weekends if needed. Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary of in the range of $80,000-$120,000 based on experience and expertise.
