Position Summary:

  • Computer Science/STEM Teacher is responsible for providing instruction on a wide range of computer science courses, including an introductory survey course, introductory Javascript, and Code.org or similar curriculum to meet Illinois Computer Science standards.
  • Computer Science/STEM Teacher is responsible for providing instruction on a variety of Robotics topics that support FIRST Illinois Robotics or similar curriculum to meet Illinois Robotics standards. 
  • The Technical Support Representative will provide technical assistance and answers to users’ questions, assisting users by troubleshooting problems with computer hardware or software.  

Schedule : Computer Science Teacher/Technical Support Representative is a school year (ten-month) full-time position.

Computer Science Teacher Responsibilities
  • Instruct students on Python, Javascript, and other relevant technologies with a project-oriented approach.
  • Instruct students on how computers work, including the basic science and mathematics behind their operation and the hardware and the software built on those foundations.
  • Teach how to design, write, and debug computer programs, algorithms, games, and apps. 
  • Keep records of grades, grade papers, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Create projects designed to enhance classroom activities.
  • Read and s Stay abreast of current topics in computer science.
  • Create lesson plans that integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
  • Utilize various curriculum resources.
  • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  • Utilize professional development opportunities to increase computer science knowledge and pedagogical skills.
  • Work with the administration to ensure initiatives are being met.

  • Ability to explain technical issues to technical and nontechnical employees and customers.  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn an array of computer hardware and software.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in technical support highly preferred.


Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
