The Athletic Trainer will provide comprehensive athletic training services to student-athletes, focusing on the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries. This role supports the overall health and performance of athletes while ensuring compliance with college, conference, and NCAA policies. The Athletic Trainer works closely with coaches, physicians, and other healthcare providers to promote a safe and positive athletic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide injury prevention, evaluation, immediate care, treatment, and rehabilitation for student-athletes.
  • Develop and implement conditioning and injury prevention programs tailored to specific sports.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, injury reports, and treatment documentation in accordance with HIPAA and institutional guidelines.
  • Coordinate referrals to physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Assist in the design and supervision of rehabilitation programs to ensure safe and timely return-to-play.
  • Cover practices, games, and team travel as assigned, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to educate athletes on injury prevention, nutrition, and overall wellness.
  • Manage and maintain athletic training facilities, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with college, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Serve as a first responder in medical emergencies during athletic events.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Current BOC (Board of Certification) certification.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in TN or can obtain licensure in 30 days.
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
  • Able to perform the duties as described in the NATA guidelines of the 5 Domains of the Athletic Trainer

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or related field.
  • Previous experience in a collegiate athletic training environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Working Conditions

  • Requires evening, weekend, and holiday hours as dictated by athletic schedules.
  • Work performed indoors in training facilities and outdoors at athletic fields/events.
  • Ability to lift/move equipment up to 50 lbs.
