Job Description

Position Summary:

TRexBio is seeking a talented and motivated contractor computational biologist to be part of a dynamic and innovative computational biology team. Our group is elucidating the biology of tissue-resident immune cells to develop next generation immunotherapies for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The team’s core competencies are bioinformatics, data science, software engineering, biology, and scientific communication. The Computational Biology group sits upon a wealth of internal and public data, including genetics, single-cell omics, perturbational RNA-seq and mined literature, and uses these data to launch and support therapeutic programs. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Implement and develop bioinformatics pipelines to facilitate robust data analysis
  • Perform data analysis, data interpretation and strategic planning of next steps
  • Coordination with other scientists in planning and executing experiments
  • Organization of records and data, interpretation, and presentation of results
  • Support the lifecycle of pre-clinical therapeutic development
  • Provide analysis for target discovery
  • Support Indication selection and MOA interrogation
  • Perform safety risk prediction analysis
  • Biomarker discovery
  • Consult on design of experiments in clinical trials

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced Python and R
  • AWS Cloud computing know-how
  • Bioinformatics pipeline expertise
  • scRNA-seq experience
  • Docker experience
  • Machine Learning experience
  • Strong experience using and maintaining relational databases
  • Top-notch cross-disciplinary communication and presentation skills
  • Exposure to immunology
  • Diligent, highly motivated self-starter with a strong growth mindset and a positive “can-do” attitude towards assigned tasks
  • Good planning and organizational skills to meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment, and excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are a must

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with single-cell VDJ, ATAC, and CITEseq
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field, e.g. Immunology or Computational Biology
  • Biotech industry experience, especially in preclinical drug discovery
  • Web application development (JS, Flask, RShiny & Django)
  • Immunology expertise
  • NGS experimental design
  • Computational structural biology and machine learning
  • LLMs, RAG/GraphRAG, and knowledge graphs
  • Docker and GitHub
