Description Georgia Military College is now accepting applications for an Academic Success Coach at our Main Campus. The Academic Success Coach serves as a retention specialist and has primary responsibility for developing and implementing services and resources to assist students with academic concerns, course difficulties, academic self-efficacy, motivation, financial and time management, basic and advanced academic behaviors, program progression and degree completion, and other duties as assigned. This Success Coach will focus on the students at the Main Campus.
Primary Responsibilities: - Provide individualized outreach to students, conduct interviews, initiate and maintain regular contact, build rapport with students, determine areas of improvement, develop action plans, and monitor student progress to include attendance and academic performance
- Provides day-to-day management of the Main Campus Tutoring Center: including the hiring, scheduling, and time approval of part-time tutors. Under the leadership of the Associate Vice President of Junior College Academics, the Success Coach will align student support needs with tutoring center resources.
- Develop, organize, and run virtual and in-person workshops during orientation, LDR classes, and as requested. Create, promote, organize, and lead virtual student activities, resource banks, and support networks, and help learners who are underperforming find appropriate resources.
- Liaison with faculty and staff to identify learners who are high-risk and send out requests for faculty to flag students in Starfish who are academically struggling. Monitor students' attendance and academic performance.
- Serve on the Academic Success Center committee as well as other college committees aimed at student success follow all policies and procedures, and attend professional development training, site visits, and conferences to remain up-to-date on policies and procedures and resources as well as best practices.
- Maintain student files and records; document all pertinent student information; update computerized information system regarding changes to student status.
- Create quarterly reports utilizing the standardized data collection process and make improvements the campus needs in this area to improve this service locally.

Qualifications Required Qualifications - Bachelors degree
- Minimum of one year direct work experience in a counseling or advising environment with adult learners
- Effective communication, ability to build rapport and project a positive attitude; organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to identify student needs for support service referral; knowledge of current and emerging trends concerning college students and academic success and student retention strategies; accuracy and attention to detail; ability to maintain confidentiality; working knowledge of computer software applications; commitment to supporting the needs of students
- Ability to work independently; ability to work under a direct/indirect reporting structure; ability to conduct workshops, seminars, and trainings; ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Counseling or a related field
- Minimum one year experience as an academic advisor or academic success coach
- Minimum requirements listed above and experience working with online technologies and tools, student retention system software, and learning management system software.
